It has more than 600 employees spread across global locations in the UK, US, China, India, Singapore, Brazil, Belgium, Finland and beyond.Job DescriptionThe RoleWorking closely with expert pricing reporters, analysts and their editors to shape stories for a readership that needs our insight and intelligence to make business decisions with confidence, you ensure that all our value-added content meets the high standards that make Fastmarkets a world-leading commodities data price-reporting agency (PRA).PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Edit intelligence-first, value-added stories that get to the heart of our markets, including exclusives, breaking news and deep dives
  • Ensure copy is accurate, error-free and does not break libel or copyright laws, minimizing corrections
  • Write effective headlines, captions, standfirsts and crossheads, always adhering to our branding and house style rules.
  • Bring the best from our reporters by helping them craft and deliver well-written and engaging content that meets our goal of being the world’s leading commodities data PRA
  • Collaborate with our production and pricing administration teams to elevate our content to must-read status
  • Provide input for training AI systems by giving feedback on automatedly created and edited content, and contributing to developing and updating best practices for new editorial workflows

KEY INTERFACES

  • You report to the Content Operations manager, Americas
  • You communicate with members of your own team, locally and globally
  • As well as providing insightful and actionable feedback to reporters and their editors, you are receptive to mentoring/suggestions from colleagues, acting upon the feedback you receive to become an even better sub-editor.
  • You maintain and build constructive relationships with other parts of the organization
  • You collaborate effectively with our tech teams, data analysts and other AI specialists to assist with the integration of new tools and workflows.

  • Excellent English alongside the knowledge and skill to judge if, where and how copy needs to be edited
  • The ability to react quickly and intelligently to copy-handling demands across multiple channels and publications in a fast-paced, digitally driven global newsroom
  • An affinity for working with data, particularly price assessments from our reporting teams
  • Knowledge and understanding of business journalism and the intricacies of digital publishing
  • Excellent communication and social skills, particularly in delivering feedback to writers and editors around the world on their copy
  • A cool head when tasks are stacking up, and a problem-solving mindset to remedy any issues, including knowing when and how to enlist the help of colleagues and managers
  • A quick learner who can become proficient in new technologies – especially in the digital realm – as needed through hands-on experience.
  • Experience of working or studying remotely as part of a team; and comfort with extended periods of focus at a computer screen.
  • Evidence of commitment and achievement relevant to the role
  • Experience of working in a newsroom/in publishing/in price reporting a plus
